Treating the Athlete, Not Just the Injury

Our child broke part of their knee playing sport and faced 9 months out of the sports they loved. They are incredibly sporty and so we wanted to get as much support as we could.  Once the brace was off their leg we started to see Kristy on a regular basis. Our child's main sport, Rugby isn't one that Kristy has had much knowledge of - she does now! She spent a huge amount of her own time researching into how best to use the sporting terms, movements etc to get our child playing a key part in their own recovery explaining each step along the way.

Kristy did a 2 week plan for them between each treatment, as well as treating them every few weeks, always explaining to our child why they were doing each exercise, how they needed to do the stretches and what the end goal was.  This really helped our child focus on getting better.  They did struggle with the positive affirmations but seemed to understand why they had to 'pep talk themselves' even though they felt a bit silly to start with.  They are now 6 months down the line from injury, starting to get back into sport, months earlier than thought. We are still seeing Kristy for now to ensure all goes to plan and get some K tape in place before games.

Talking to our child like the athlete they are, making sure things were explained on their level and the treatments themselves all played a massive part in our child's recovery.

Thank you so much Kristy.
